Foodie Fridays: Power Plant Bar & Grill

Anchoring an entire wall of The Power Plant Bar & Grill is the electric switchboard that once powered the French Lick Springs Hotel is the hot spot for drinks, delicious food and live music on the weekends at French Lick Resort.

With an eclectic menu comprising comfort-food classics, pub-inspired dishes, artisan pizzas and an impressive drink menu, The Power Plant Bar & Grill is a fantastic option for couples, families or groups with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options available as well.

Featured on this edition of Foodie Friday are six of their classic dishes. Specifically, we have their most popular menu item, breaded pork tenderloin along with Beef Swiss Steak, chicken quesadilla, High Voltage Burger, Portabello Mushroom Merger and gumbo (along with some signature cocktails that we'll get to later). Following the switchboard theme, this restaurant plays up their namesake by categorizing their menu. Starting with Power Plant Openers, The Pizza Panel, Sandwich Station, The Main Breaker, Burger Fusion Board and rounding it out with Dielect-able Desserts. Let's break down the dishes and explore their distinct flavors.

If you're looking to begin your meal on a flavorful teaser, look no further than the Chicken Quesadilla (available without chicken for a vegetarian option). Sauteed bell peppers and cheese will delight your taste buds and jump-start your meal on a tasty note.

The breaded pork tenderloin sandwich stands tall as their No. 1 item on the menu, and for good reason. Between the perfectly breaded pork to the toasted brioche roll and the distinct crunch of onion rings on the side, it doesn't get much better than this plate.

If you're in the mood for something a bit lighter (and vegetarian), the Portabello Mushroom Merger is a classic combination of roasted mushrooms and peppers with a side of light and fluffy quinoa mixed with black beans, corn and cilantro. A perfect meat-free, light lunch or dinner option from their "Main Breaker" portion of the menu.

Another "Main Breaker" meal Beef Swiss Steak is a quintessential if you're craving a feel-good meal. Melt-in-your-mouth tender beef paired with classic mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans--this is what comfort-food dreams are made of.

If you're feeling spicy, turn up the volume on heat with the High Voltage Burger from their Burger Fusion Board. The spice is not shy on this burger -- it's included in everything but the bun including sliced jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and a Cajun horseradish dressing.

Bring Louisiana flavors to your table with gumbo, a Southern favorite with a Power Plant twist.

Signature Drinks
The Power Plant Bar & Grill features more than your typical bar cocktail menu. Our bartenders carefully craft each drink and create new recipes regularly. Pictured are Power Plant's Moscow Mule, Fantasia Fusion, classic martini and French Lick red wine. With Russian Standard Vodka, house-made ginger beer and a burst of Sprite in the Moscow Mule all in the classic copper mug. The Fantasia Fusion includes Cruzan strawberry rum, DeKuyper Razzmatazz, piƱa colada and mango puree; it's a perfectly fruity layered drink to sip with your meal (and is also incredibly Instagram-worthy). Along with their impressive drink menu is a fantastic beer selection, both craft and domestics available.

Wine Flights
The Power Plant Bar & Grill's wines can be successfully paired with their diverse dishes. Wine flights are among some of their most recent menu offerings. Here's a peek at some of those recommendations with the food pictured.

Pinot Noir: enjoy a glass with gumbo
Merlot: have a glass with any burger or Mushroom Merger
Cabernet Sauvignon: take a sip on the side of either the Swiss Steak, High Voltage Burger or breaded pork tenderloin sandwich
