First Visit to French Lick Resort? Some Answers to Your Questions

Coming to French Lick Resort for the first time? We realize there’s a lot to wrap your head around, with three hotels and 3,200 acres’ worth of resort here.

From our representatives in the Call Center, here are some of the questions they receive the most from first-time visitors. Maybe some of these answers will help you get better acquainted before a trip of your own.

Can we use both hotels if we stay at one?

Yes — if you’re staying at French Lick Springs Hotel, you are free to explore West Baden Springs Hotel, and vice versa. In fact, we encourage it. How often can you visit a property with two National Historic Landmarks located just one mile apart?

The only exceptions are with pool and fitness center amenities. West Baden Springs Hotel and Valley Tower guests can use the French Lick Springs Hotel pool. However, French Lick guests cannot use the West Baden Springs Hotel pool. The fitness centers at West Baden and French Lick are both hotel specific, with Valley Tower guests allowed access to the French Lick fitness center as well.

Currently with the resort being a closed campus for COVID-19 precautions, daily temperature screenings are required, but once you have the daily wristband from your temperature screening, it allows you access everywhere across the resort.

How old do you have to be to get into French Lick Casino?

If you’re 21 or older, that’s the magic number to come in and try your luck on the casino floor.

Is the water park part of your resort? What about the condos?

Big Splash Adventure in French Lick is not part of the resort, but it’s an ideal family-friendly side trip while you’re here. They offer day passes to enjoy the water park year-round. French Lick Resort does not have condos — some get us mistaken for the French Lick Villas that are adjacent to our property.

Which one is the old hotel?

Well, there’s two answers that apply here. French Lick Springs Hotel was established in 1845 and expanded to its current form in the early 1900s. Version 2.0 of West Baden Springs Hotel has been around since 1902, after the original structure built in 1855 was lost to a fire. There’s so much history within these walls, and both hotels offer historical tours Wednesday-Sunday that neatly outline everything about how these hotels got here in the first place, and how they’ve been restored.

Which hotel is connected to the casino?

Again, two correct answers here. Valley Tower is the new hotel that directly connects to French Lick Casino. And French Lick Springs Hotel sits adjacent to French Lick Casino, though you can go from one to the other without stepping foot outside as the two buildings connect via the Event Center.

What can my teenagers do?

One of our recent blogs has a couple ideas for you. (And if all else fails, the Wi-Fi here is free.)

Do you have a room that can hold 6 or more people?

French Lick and West Baden Springs Hotels, both being historic hotels, do not feature connecting room access in traditional guest rooms. French Lick does have a couple of 3-bedroom suites that connect, and West Baden has a two-bedroom suite that can accommodate six people.

Is there a Pete Dye golf package?

There are actually a few stay-and-play packages that include our award-winning Pete Dye Course, and you can find them here. If you can round up your crew between now and May 24, you can take advantage of the Early Bird Package and play both the Pete Dye and Donald Ross at some of our best rates of the year.

Do I pay you now or at the time of check-in?

You will be asked for your credit card number when making reservations just to hold the room, but your card is not charged until you check in. There are a couple packages and special offers that require payment at time of booking.

Do you have any in-room hot tubs?

West Baden Springs Hotel has a few suites that contain jetted bathtubs, however no hot tubs or Jacuzzis in rooms. You can find hot tubs at the pool complex at both French Lick and West Baden Springs Hotels.

Can I book spa appointments online?

So we can answer your specific questions and inquiries about the spa, appointments at either spa can be made by calling either spa directly. Dial (812) 936-5819 for The Spa at French Lick, or (812) 936-5801 for The Spa at West Baden. Guests of any hotel can book appointments at either spa.

Do you have a shuttle service?

Yes, and our shuttle buses run 24 hours a day, with stops at resort venues, including the hotels, casino, golf courses and stables. You can also get a lift to and from off-property local restaurants in French Lick and West Baden Springs. And as always, rides on the shuttle are free.

What activities and food are included in the price of the room?

Room rates do not reflect an all-inclusive resort experience, so your overnight accommodations, meals, and activities are all separate from each other. We do include several services or amenities free of charge: Wi-Fi, parking, bell/valet service, and resort-wide shuttle transportation are all complimentary throughout your stay.

What dining options are there? And what’s going on at the resort during my stay?

Our dining page has menus, hours and everything you need to know about dining at the resort. There’s several more dining options in the local community, too.

To discover all there is to do at the resort, our Guest Guide, Special Events Page, and Resort Calendar are a good start. Better yet, leave the planning to us. We offer personal planning of your stay free of charge. Golf, bowling, spa appointments, dining, tours, FootGolf, special events and more — whatever you have in mind, we can make it happen.
