Fall at French Lick Resort is reason enough to plan a
getaway. Fall getaway just for two? Now we’re really talking.
It’s not too early to pencil in a romantic fall getaway, and
planning one at French Lick Resort has never been easier. (More on that later.)
Whether you’re enjoying the resort to its colorful fullest or branching out and
exploring the surrounding area, French Lick and West Baden are made for slowing
down and enjoying life together.
You can’t beat some of our classic resort experiences that are perfectly made for two. Slip into a couples massage at The Spa at French Lick. Take a horseback ride through the Hoosier countryside and relish those picture-perfect fall days.
Go bowling and feel like a couple of kids all over again. And did you know about our
sporting clays range? Might seem like an out-of-the-box couples activity, but hey — relationships are all about taking on the new and unexpected together, right? It’s a whole different experience, and no prior marksmanship experience required.
When the weather cools and the leaves change, our 3,200
resort acres are perfect for
outdoor
exploration. You’ve got your pick of ways to admire the color in the
Hoosier National Forest.
The Ferguson Trail (running between French Lick and West
Baden Springs Hotels) is a quick 1-mile walk full of colors that pop in
fall. Rent a couple bikes and feel the breeze on your face. Or bring your
trail shoes or mountain bike and venture out on the Buffalo Trace Trail. Stick
to Trail 1 for quicker, leisurely stroll, or tackle the elevation on Trails 2
and 3 if the two of you like to get the heart pumping a little more.
And even if Mother Nature gives us one of those toasty fall
seasons that’s beach weather rather than leaf-peeping weather, don’t worry — our
outdoor resort pools stay open through mid to late October.
Another quintessential resort experience is also coming back
this fall. Snuggle up on a horse-drawn carriage ride and some alone time to be
treasured. We are tentatively planning to bring back carriage rides in the next
few weeks, so stay tuned. It’s a perfect way to pull off a romantic surprise.
Beyond the resort, exploring some of the
unique
discoveries in surrounding Southern Indiana is
a must. Pop over to
French Lick
Winery and Spirits of French Lick Distillery for their new cocktail menu,
wine tastings, distillery tours, and new Drift Coastal Italian restaurant. (And
of course a bottle of wine, or five or six, to take home.) If you’re visiting
the second week of September, stop by for their
25th anniversary open
house celebration on September 12. Enjoy live music, free samples and hors
d’oeuvres, and get a taste of two new wines available for tasting and purchase
— La Donna Rossa red blend and Winemaker’s Cut semi-sweet blackberry.
Another must-try day trip: Fall Foliage Wine Cruises
at Patoka Lake, featuring Indiana wines with food pairings. Plan ahead and make
reservations early, because these typically fill up fast.
Another great ways to cheers to the two of you? Board a Chocolate
Tasting Train or Bourbon
Tasting Train for a spirited little side trip. Each train has three
different Saturday dates this fall on the French Lick Scenic Railway. And if your idea of fun involves more of an
adrenaline rush — maybe canoeing on the Blue River or ziplining at Wilstem
Wildlife Park — there are so many ways to round out your trip.
