Lost, Found and Returned, 'Lambie' Sums Up Our Guest-First Mission

In a year where good news has been at a premium, we present to you Lambie.

Lambie is a success story; of finding something you thought may be lost forever. And Lambie is also indicative of our mission here at French Lick Resort: We’re always aiming to exceed the expectations of every guest.

Lambie is a stuffed Scentsy lamb belonging to a 12-year-old girl named Katelyn, who visited French Lick Springs Hotel with her family early in October. All was cool during their stay, when they went bowling, swam and rode horses. But upon returning home, a moment of panic.

Lambie is nowhere to be found.

And that’s where our staff stepped in to help.

After receiving an email late Friday from the girl’s mother about the missing lamb, our Director of Hotel Operations circulates this email at 6:58 a.m. on Saturday to laundry, housekeeping and other departments:

“Good morning all – please search high and low for this child’s comfort item.”

Maybe Lambie got tucked within the sheets somehow when the room was cleaned. (Vacation is for sleeping in, after all.) But he turned up quickly in a lost-and-found box. And from there, our guest services staff pitched in to give Lambie a creative trip home.

One of our front desk associates fashioned a mask for Lambie out of Kleenex and rubber bands. Another associate then documented a photo tour of Lambie visiting different spots around the resort. Getting a bite to eat; getting his temperature-check wristband; riding a bike; boarding the trolley; rocking in a chair. Even standing in line for his morning coffee at the Mercantile shop.

Our staff then emailed the family the photos of Lambie’s solo journey, along with the confirmation that he’d be back home in the Cincinnati area within a few days:

“I just wanted to let you guys know that Lambie is safe and sound, he decided your last trip to French Lick Resort wasn’t quite  long enough — so he decided to go ahead and stay a few extra days with us. Lambie has been very well behaved and is even wearing his mask and remembering to social distance. Lambie is scheduled to check out on Monday morning and will be traveling back to you via USPS.”

Lambie even arrived back home with a new French Lick Resort shirt and a chocolate bar. Hopefully it brought a smile back to a little girl’s face — precisely the above-and-beyond service we aim to deliver all our guests here.
