6 Resort Experiences/Amenities You May Not Know About

Even if you’re a regular here at French Lick Resort, there’s probably a thing or two you don’t know about us. (There is a lot of ground to cover here, after all.)

From little things to bigger experiences, you might be surprised by some of the things you never knew you could experience here. Here’s 6 of them:

Fire Up the Weekend: Looking to grab food and drinks in a hurry on Friday or Saturday night? You’re in luck. Our new “Fire Up the Weekend” event lasts throughout the fall on the back patio of French Lick Springs Hotel.

From 7-10 p.m., enjoy a chill vibe with live music and a cash bar, and grab a seat around the fire to enjoy free s’mores or a bite to eat: pulled pork and black bean nachos; short ribs and grits; or grilled chicken and vegetable kabobs. (And for you pumpkin lovers, the jumbo pumpkin bars are practically a meal unto themselves.)

Sporting Clays:
Even if you’ve never fired a gun in your life, give this a shot.

Back in the spring, our sporting clays range (located up near The Stables) opened to all guests for the first time. Before, it was an experience only offered to group guests or larger parties of 10 or more. Now, anyone can experience the thrill of a hunt, even if you’re a couple or a smaller crew.

The main availability is Friday-Sunday, and everything else you need to know about sporting clays is right here. The range is also open in these upcoming late fall/winter months, weather permitting. To book an experience, contact Donnie Madden at (812) 788-2575 or dmadden@frenchlick.com.

Thanksgiving Pizza:
This is one of those fringe/seasonal/very-limited-time items not many folks know about. But the ones who do can’t wait for the Thanksgiving Pizza to come back every year.

Pluto’s Pizzeria offers a special pie made solely of Thanksgiving food: white meat turkey, homemade stuffing and gravy, and cheese, which marry into gloriously dense pizza form. (Read about it in one of our past blogs.)

This year, it’ll be offered Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days. And just a heads-up, you’ll definitely need both hands to carry out one of these deep-dish beasts from Pluto’s.

Lobby Bar:
Take happy hour or a post-dinner nightcap to go. The lobby bar in French Lick Springs Hotel is open from 3:30-9:00 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, so you can keep your favorite beverage in hand whether you’re relaxing on the veranda or poolside, or just roaming the hotel. Stop by for your favorite beer, wine or mixed drink — including the same cocktails served nearby in 1875: The Steakhouse, such as the Signature Bloody Mary or French Lick Manhattan.

Youth Golf: You and your kids may have already hit the course for a round of FootGolf, but our 9-hole Valley Links Course is also the perfect place for youngsters to sharpen their traditional golf skills.

At Valley Links, kids 12 and under play for free (with complimentary loaner clubs, too, if you need them), and children age 12-17 can play for half price. With two sets of tee markers for kids measuring 1,100 or 1,900 yards, youngsters can easily compete alongside mom and dad or their older siblings. Children 17 and under can also get lessons from our PGA pros at reduced rates.

Games Galore: In and around French Lick Springs Hotel, there’s plenty of different ways to get your game on. At Pluto’s Alley, cosmic bowling is now offered every night from 9:00-11:00. Plus, several games are available free of charge:

Ping pong and pool volleyball: Both available at the indoor pool — ping-pong equipment will either be sitting on the table, or in the holder nearby on the wall.

Croquet: Visit Valley Links golf shop to check out the equipment.

Soccer balls and volleyballs: Stop by the French Lick Springs Hotel bell stand to check out a ball. The sand volleyball court is located near the Indiana Railway Museum just off Monon Street (behind the Event Center and near the Valley Links Course).

Badminton, cornhole, ladder golf and other lawn games: Already set up and ready to go on the front lawn.

Board games: Available at the front desk: Apples to Apples, Sorry!, Yahtzee, Connect 4, Battleship, Monopoly Junior, Uncle Wiggily, The Floor is Lava. Play ‘em in the lobby, on the veranda, or up in your room.
