Marking the Start of Summer with More Resort Reopenings

Summer’s officially here as of tomorrow, June 20. And it’s fitting that the change of seasons coincides with more and more venues and amenities opening back up at French Lick Resort.

We’re ready to make some summer memories. And if you’re ready too, here’s what you can expect to see reopening. Hit the links; gather the family for FootGolf; or just claim a rocking chair on the veranda with a bowl of ice cream. Cheers to living summer to the fullest.

At French Lick Springs Hotel

Overnight stays: Beginning this weekend, we have a limited number of rooms available for leisure guests at French Lick. Always wanted to drop everything and try an impromptu weekend getaway? Now could be the time. Call (888) 936-9360 to ask about availability.

French Lick Springs Hotel and Valley Tower continue to accept reservations for July 1 and beyond, and West Baden Springs Hotel has been open and is taking new reservations as well. Those can be booked online or by calling the same number above.

Pools and Hot Tub: Come on in — the water’s just fine at the indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub, which opened up yesterday to resort guests. Open at 5:30 a.m. for you early birds and until 12:30 a.m. for the night owls.

Look for new tables for outdoor dining on the
lower veranda at French Lick Springs Hotel.
The Grand Colonnade Restaurant: Our usual hotspot for breakfast and brunch is expanding its repertoire. The Grand Colonnade has transitioned from a breakfast buffet to a new breakfast menu (served 7-11 a.m.) and is now serving dinner as well (5-9 p.m. daily). This is where the hotel’s grand ballroom once was, so with plenty of wide-open space at The Grand Colonnade, it’s tailor-made for social distancing and features a dinner menu with many of your favorites from the Power Plant Bar & Grill. If you’d like, you can even take dinner to-go outside in the new outdoor seating areas on the lower veranda.

Spring 8 Deli: You can’t lounge poolside without a drink, right? Spring 8 is now open for the season, so walk up to the bar and order up some refreshment.

If you’re having trouble choosing from Spring 8’s 30+ signature drinks, our resident mixology expert Tomi Parker has a few recommendations. She likes the Lucky Charm (coconut rum, blue curacao, peach schnapps, pineapple and orange juice) and Miami Vice (layered pina colada and strawberry daiquiri), or you can make the Miami Vice into a Patriot with a splash of blue curacao for a red, white and blue summer treat. Another of Tomi’s favorites, the homemade Autumn Berry Chicken Salad, is now back on the menu as well for a lighter summer bite.

(Open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; closed Sunday except for July 4 weekend.)

Bikes: Be a kid again. And see the resort from the best possible view. Tandems, surreys and regular cruiser bikes are available again at French Lick Springs Hotel, and you can rent ‘em at the Mercantile.

Other French Lick Springs Hotel amenities: We’re still working to get the bowling alley open, and it should be up and running by next weekend or the Fourth of July weekend. Reopening plans are still in the works at the Spa at French Lick, and we’ll share those with you when they’re finalized.

We are working on some changes with KidsFest as well, and exploring some outdoor alternatives such as Dive-In Movies and DJs at the pool. We’re looking to find some creative solutions there, so stay tuned!

French Lick Casino — In case you missed it, French Lick Casino is up and running again, and we’ve seen steady traffic on the casino floor ever since it opened earlier this week. Click here to brush up on some of the changes you’ll see at the casino.

The Stables at French Lick — Starting today, the barn doors at The Stables are open to resort guests seven days a week. Take a guided 45-minute trail ride, treat the kids to a pony ride, or just stop in for a quick tour of our horse barns.

Indiana Landmarks tours — All you history buffs will be happy to know that historical tours have returned at both French Lick and West Baden Springs Hotels. Through July 12, tours will be available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For now, tours are limited to about 6-8 people to comply with social distancing, so reservations are strongly encouraged. Grab a spot by emailing swoodward@indianalandmarks.org.

Fourth of July weekend — While our annual fireworks show has been paused this year, there’s plenty around the resort’s 3,200 acres to keep you busy for July 4 weekend.

At French Lick Springs Hotel, look for Ladies of Liberty performances throughout the weekend, and possibly a return of everyone’s favorite: the old-time Dixieland Band. And after dark, keep an eye out for the unique patriotic projection displays on the hotel’s façade.

At West Baden Springs Hotel, you can soak in some summer sun (with afternoon cookouts the Saturday and Sunday of July 4 weekend) or chill inside under the dome, cocktail in hand, while enjoying live jazz music from 5-9 p.m. on the 3rd, 4th and 5th.
