What's New at French Lick Resort for 2020?

It’s a new year, a new decade (depending on who you ask), and we’ve got a few new things happening at French Lick Resort that you can look forward to in 2020.  Here’s an early peek at 6 of them:

New Pool
Summer at French Lick Springs Hotel just got twice as refreshing.

We’re adding another outdoor pool at French Lick Springs Hotel, and since the mild winter weather has been cooperating, construction should be wrapped up in time for the new pool to open by May 1. You’ll find the second pool right next to the existing one, and this new pool has a zero-entry design for beach vibes right here at the resort.

More deck space at the expanded pool complex will also allow for a little more elbow room while you’re lounging on those warm and sunny days. Two pools and extra deck space will be an ideal layout for activities, such as the summertime Dive-In Movies that you can expect to see more often.

Expanded Concert Lineup
We know you love a good show, and our concert lineup is expanding in 2020 to include more of the acts you want to see. Air Supply is first up on January 17 (you can still grab some tickets for this Friday’s show), then see Grand Funk Railroad on March 14 before two of country’s biggest stars hit the stage with Clint Black on May 16 and Trace Adkins on July 3.

There’s more to come, too. Additional concerts will be coming to French Lick later in 2020, so stay tuned to learn about the next acts coming to the stage in the latter half of 2020.

175th Anniversary of French Lick Springs Hotel
You only turn 175 once. (That’s a saying, right?) Anyhow, we’ve got a few special things on tap to celebrate the 175th anniversary of one of our historic hotels.

French Lick Springs Hotel was established in 1845, and to celebrate 175 years, we’ll be offering special $175 rooms rates on select dates in 2020. We’re also planning a gala dinner on Friday, May 15 to honor the hotel’s history and longevity. Look for more details to come soon on both of those.

Also, look for historical displays in 2020 detailing some of the hotel’s heritage and showcasing some classic relics from over the years. The display case will contain a different theme each month — it’s a dining theme to start us off in January, with old menus from hotel restaurants along with original china and utensils. Look for the display case in the corridor between the hotel lobby and the Promenade of Shoppes.

New events in February and March
Don’t have plans for the Valentine’s holiday yet? Now you do.

New for 2020 is Ooh La Love: A Valentine’s Soiree. If you’re looking to impress at Valentine’s, this French-themed romantic evening on Friday, February 7 has everything you need to pull it off. A three-course dinner. Roaming entertainment while you eat — a little sassy and Moulin Rouge-ish with dancers, singer, and an accordion player. We’ve even got babysitting duty covered, as you can drop off your little ones age 6-12 at our supervised Junior Valentine’s Soiree. (And if you’re ready to make the weekend even sweeter, stay the next day for our always-popular Chocolate Fest.)

After Valentine’s, we’ve got another big night around the corner for St. Paddy’s season: Irish Whiskey Tasting. If you’ve ever attended our Wine Pairings or Craft Beer Experiences, this is the same idea: a selection of jazzed-up hors d’oeuvres each paired with select Irish whiskeys. Tullamore D.E.W., Bushmills Black Bush and a flight of Jameson Original, Caskmates and Black Barrel are the chosen spirits. Space is limited, so make plans to be at West Baden Springs Hotel on Friday, March 20 for another unique first-time event.

A Movie Shoot
First item of business for 2020: Making a splash on the big screen.

A film crew is already here and preparations are ramping up to begin a movie shoot here later in January. (And as a result, note that West Baden Springs Hotel will be closed to the public from January 20 through February 1 while filming is being completed at the hotel.) Other spots around the resort and in town will be featured in the movie, too.

We can’t offer any spoilers about the movie or the cast just yet, but we’re excited about the quality of the movie and the people making it — and you can expect the movie to be out in the next year or two. As soon as we’re able, we’ll share more about the movie and the behind-the-scenes work in creating it.

Restored Barn at The Stables
We’re in the business of restoring historic structures at French Lick Resort. And we’ve got another fixer-upper in the works.

As they expand operations at their quarry, US Aggregates in nearby Springville is generously donating a historic barn, which will be taken down, transported to French Lick Resort, then rebuilt up near The Stables. The original barn likely dates back to around the mid-1800s — just like our hotels at French Lick and West Baden originally established in 1845 and 1855, respectively — so it’s sure to be in good hands here.

The barn will be transformed into an indoor event venue to complement the outdoor venue at The Stables Pavilion, and you can expect to see it rebuilt and ready by this spring.
