Winter is pretty much safely in the rearview mirror. And that means we're setting sail into the season of phenomenal views.
They exist all across our 3,000+ acres at French Lick Resort — maybe even from inside your guestroom. You can find them high and low, from the depths of the West Baden Springs Hotel gardens to the hilltop vistas at The Pete Dye Course.
We've rounded up a few of our favorite views from the resort, and they've got us jazzed up for some of these warm-weather months ahead. If you're visiting this summer, be sure to capture and share your favorite views using #frenchlickresort on social media.
First thing first, with guestrooms that deliver memorable views. Any of the 40 balcony rooms at West Baden Springs Hotel will provide this type of view. This specific room on the south side of the hotel is a prime vantage point, with the Rookwood fireplace straight ahead and the buzz of activity that's usually happening on the opposite side of the atrium.
From this spot on the sixth floor, you practically feel like you could reach out and touch the top of the dome and the pendant from your balcony.
From up here, you also get a better feel for the endless network of steel that was required to support this 200-foot dome. Believe it or not, this is all the original steel from when the hotel and dome were originally built in 1901-02. During restoration in the mid-2000s, steel reinforcement was added to the main floors in the hotel, but the dome was structurally sound and didn't need steel reinforcement.
Pulling back the curtains at French Lick Springs Hotel can let in some great views, too...
Any guestroom on the back side of the hotel will usher in views of the formal gardens and the iconic Pluto Spring House. The gold-gilded roof and original spiral staircase ahead are where 1875: The Steakhouse is located.
Rooms at the back end of the Spring Wing also look out into the gardens, as well as a more panoramic view of the area's wooded landscape.
Up at The Pete Dye Course, we could devote an entire gallery to the views up here. Especially with Pete's statue overlooking the horizon line more than 40 miles away.
Even if you're not a golfer, or a morning person, an early wakeup call is worth it to experience The Pete Dye Course around sunrise.
When the sun goes down, The Stables offer a nice panoramic view of their own. The last trail rides of the day go off at 4 p.m., but you can always take a walk or stroll up here for a little sunset solitude.
And circling back to West Baden Springs Hotel, there's just something about the way sun peers through the dome that makes it seem like light shining down from the heavens.
And whether it's on the Donald Ross Course or the hotel veranda, we've got a seat with your name on it when you want to sit back and enjoy the views.
