Where else can you dine with a panoramic view of a Donald Ross designed golf course, sit at the bar where gangster Al Capone was believed to have carved a message AND enjoy clubhouse food? Look no further than Hagen's Club House Restaurant, just a quick drive from French Lick Resort.
What is the "clubhouse" food we are referring to? Let's take an up-close look at the featured dishes in this edition of Foodie Friday (if you're reading this hungry, we're sorry)!
Martinis, Bloody Mary's and classic cocktails are all available at Hagen's bar and enjoy them with your meal or take them outside on their balcony.
We're starting with the star: Hagen's Signature BBQ Ribs. They are everything your BBQ dreams are made of and more. Sweet, sticky, savory, smoky and oh so satisfying. Pictured here is their impressive full rack of ribs, but they're also available 1/2 rack. Depending on your appetite, you'll want to savor every bit of these tender, glorious ribs while taking in the gorgeous views of the course. To up the ante even more, enjoy with a refreshing cocktail (like the Bloody Mary featured here).
If you're in the mood for seafood, Hagen's has you covered with a variety of options! Pictured here is the Scottish Salmon, fresh Scottish salmon grilled and served over fresh spinach, quinoa and topped with a strawberry balsamic reduction. Served with two sides of your choice (mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes are featured here). There's nothing to feel guilty about with this plate of goodness.
A chef (and guest) favorite: Shrimp & Grits. What's not to love about creamy, cheesy stone ground grits topped with gulf shrimp? Surrounded by a light Étouffée (commonly used in Cajun cuisine) with seafood comprising of spices, vegetables and stock that creates a delectable stew-like sauce that is almost indescribable until you taste it for yourself.
For the "lighter" option, The Golden Bell is a great option. Named after the famous par 3 hole at Augusta, Hagen's has put together a beautiful trio of salads: Hagen's chicken salad (served with raisin bread toast), strawberry quinoa salad and fresh fruit salad. Perfect if you're looking for something light before, during or after your round of golf on the course.
Before we dive into desserts, Hagen's has a newly redone enclosed dining room and patio complete with a fireplace! Now that Spring is just around the corner, you'll want to plan an evening with your friends or date night to enjoy this new space with the gorgeous view of the Donald Ross Course.
Three words: Apple Cheesecake Wontons. If that doesn't sound heavenly enough, they top them with vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream and a generous drizzle of caramel for good measure. One bite of this and you will be transported to dessert la la land.
Sometimes a dessert is so beautiful, you have to glimpse at it (quickly) and snap an Instagram-worthy photo showing its beautiful layers before indulging.
That's exactly what we have here with the double stacked chocolate cake topped with fresh berries and candied pecans. Explore all of these delicious possibilities and much more on Hagen's Club House Restaurant's menu.
Hagen's is open 11am-8pm daily. Reservations are not required. French Lick Resort's complimentary transportation will drive you to and from anywhere around the resort, including Hagen's, 7 days a week!
