As a Mom myself, I can definitely understand the guilt of wanting to have a relaxing vacation but also spend some quality time with the entire family. The good news is that French Lick Resort's KidsFest program allows you to have 2 hours of guilt-free time to get that massage you desperately need, work on your golf swing or just lounge by the pool with a good book.
The activities sound so fun even I would like to sign-up (silly mommy, these are for kids) KidsCook is loads of fun for budding chefs and Sweet Spa Sensation is a huge hit with the girls with mini-manicures and pedicures. Hey Dude Ranch continues to be a popular choice with hay ride over to The Stables, pony rides and feeding of the goats. The mom take-away from all these offerings is that they are offered from 1-3 in the afternoon (optimal tanning time)
Rather spend the day with the kids in the pool, how about a relaxing dinner with your husband? Evening KidsFest activities are available from 6-8pm (and 6-9pm in some instances) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Photo Venture lets them make their own scrapbook of their trip, Summer Movie party is just like a slumber party without the slumber part. Bowling, Arcade and Pizza (BAP) is self-explanatory and KidsCreate let's their inner-Picasso shine through.
As a bonus, here are my top 5 suggestions for families:

My recommendation would be to make a reservation in one of fine-dining restaurants (1875: The Steakhouse or Sinclair's would be excellent choices) while the kids are having their own fun, with dinner included. You can meet back up just in time catch the 8:30pm trip to The Stables for Family Hayride & S'mores. Seriously, who doesn't love s'mores? Kids five and under are free and all other "hayriding s'mores eaters" are $10 a person.
KidsFest summer activities begin May 30th and run through Labor Day. Activities range from $25-$40 per child and can be booked by calling (812) 788-1150. Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged because activities do sell out.
As a bonus, here are my top 5 suggestions for families:
- Rent a surrey bike and explore the area together
- Give the Valley Links Golf Course a try (kids 12 and younger play free with parents)
- Head over to the pool at the French Lick Springs Hotel for Family Fun nights
- Get out and explore! Holiday World is open for the season and is just an hour away
- Get competitive and go-karting...French Lick /West Baden Indoor Karting is just up the road
