One of the most charming and highly unique aspects of French Lick is undoubtedly its location. Nestled in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana, the majestic and historic beauty of the French Lick Resort and West Baden dome is completely unexpected in the small town of French Lick. While French Lick is considered by many to be a quaint town, it offers many activities for its visitors. There are the spas, golf, and horseback riding which are all great activities that appeal to different interests. You may be asking, though, what is there to do for the thrill seekers in my family?
Not to fear - I have discovered the perfect mini trip to get your blood pumping. Lark Valley Zip Lines is conveniently located seven miles outside of French Lick. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a few hours in French Lick and you don’t check out these zip lines, you’re definitely missing out. Still not convinced? Here are five reasons why you should visit Lark Valley Zip Lines:
1) The scenery
You come upon Lark Valley by way of a gravel road that leads from US 150. The winding road leads back to a big, wooden barn that sits next to a lake. The whole place has a rustic charm about it. Once you begin your tour, the zip lines are woven through peaceful, scenic woods with high treetops and deep gorges. Zipping through these woods is a great way to escape the craziness of everyday life and connect with nature for a few hours.

Two great tour guides!
2) The staff
First off, I have to give a shout-out to our two tour guides- Adam and John. These two made our experience a memorable, hilarious, and entertaining one. The people of Southern Indiana are known for their friendliness, and the staff at Lark Valley is no exception. Zip lining can be a little stress inducing for some people, but the crew will treat you like a friend and calm your nerves with a healthy dose of humor. The whole place has a family-friendly feel about it, and it is due largely in part to their awesome staff.
3) Meet new people
Put twelve different people in a group, and send them on a two hour, adrenaline producing zip line tour, and (I promise you) a new bond will develop. We started as strangers from Louisville, St. Louis, Paoli and Vincennes, and by the end we had all learned a little about each other. We knew who was the dare-devil, the timid one, and the funny man of the group. We learned about each other’s stories, and that made the whole experience even more endearing.
4) Get your adrenaline fix
Nothing will get your blood pumping quite like zipping down a steel cable, weaving in between trees and gliding high over a lake. This is exactly why you need to try this! There are 10 zip lines (over 1 mile!!) for you to conquer. The feeling is exhilarating, and I would be willing to bet that there will be a huge smile on your face by the end of it.
5) Fun for all ages
One of the great things about the French Lick Resort is its appeal to all ages. Whether you’re six or 60, there is something for you to do. Lark Valley Zip Lines falls right in this category. My group ranged from an adorable six year old to a cute couple in their 50’s. Some people came on a recommendation from their friends and others just on a whim, but no one was disappointed. Sometimes it’s hard to find something that will appeal to the whole family; this is exactly why you need to visit Lark Valley.
Zip lines run from March through November. They are open on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Reservations can be made by calling 812-295-9000.
